Question 2 - How does your media product represent particular social groups?

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Adolescents
The whole of our thriller opening represents adolescents as careless individuals who drink excessive amounts underage. Teenagers are already stereotypically represented as this in society today and so our thriller opening keeps to this stereoptype as through out the opening the people who attended the party were all aged between 16-19 years.

Adolescents are also represented as careless and crazy in media such as 'Skins'. Both characters from in these clips from 'Skins' represent both male and female teenagers as aggressive, party animals, sex obsessed and alcoholics.

To some teenagers they may like the fact that they're represented like this in media today. However, some may be offended as it could give off the impression that all teenagers are like this. Another negative representation of teenagers is displayed in a BBC comedy where Harry Enfield plays Kevin Patterson, an annoying, careless, moody character that almost takes the mick out of teenagers.
